CHD Ltd., is formed by the partnership of two experienced cultural heritage photographers James Stevenson and Ken Jackson. Both have worked in UK National Museums and have considerable combined experience in this field. Customers will receive a service and quality product which would satisfy any major museum.
CHD Ltd specialise in scanning large flat artworks on any material substrate such as oil on canvas, paper, textile or plastic. This work is undertaken on a large format flat-bed scanner made by the German Cruse company. This is the only commercially scanner of this type in London and the South East. Scanning with this equipment ensures that the safety of large art works is guaranteed. There is no contact with the original art work surface and handling of the object is minimised as the object is placed flat, face-up, on the horizontal scanning bed. Objects up to 1.5M x 1M can be scanned in a single pass making a file up to 1.5 Gb. Larger objects can be scanned in multiple passes and stitched seamlessly together.

I’m a Photographer and Educator based in Devon, with 30 years’ experience, working mainly in the Cultural Heritage sector. Here I’ve been photographing artwork, 2D and 3D over many years. A recent commission was to digitise 10,000 35mm negatives from the Beaford Archive and work them to positive images for their Hidden Histories website. Last year I completed my work of photographing sculpture for ArtUK. Since lockdown I've added photogrammetry to my portfolio, and have been making virtual 3D models of museum objects. I’m still learning my trade, keeping abreast of technology, seeking out new challenges, forever questioning, striving for perfection and being the biggest critic of my work.

I have over thirty years experience as a freelance cameraman/photographer and am now based in The Cotswolds near Stroud. An art history background has led me to specialise in photographing paintings and works on paper and video work includes shooting documentaries, infommercials and presentations for websites and TV.
Working in different media has given me experience and expertise in adjusting and maximising image tonality for its final presentation on screen or print, as well as its more neutral role in conservation and digital archiving. In a cultural heritage project of my own, I have published a book of my photographs of Kate Bush's only tour, taken at the start of my camera career.

Specialising in details and interiors of historic buildings and heritage sites, I seek out quintessential features and textures that together create the unique and remarkable qualities that enable somewhere to become Somewhere. My unique visual perspective comes from my scientific training combined with a childhood spent in my grandma’s darkroom – and I also delight in photographing from up on scaffolding, rooftops, or in cherry pickers. My work has been shortlisted in multiple photography competitions and featured in the press on numerous occasions. My two most recent self-published books on historic Cambridge architecture have both been shortlisted for major awards (‘Focused on King’s College Chapel’ and ‘Illuminating Cambridge Libraries’). Upcoming work focuses on British baroque murals and more historic libraries. I particularly enjoy photographing a historic building, then designing and publishing the book or pamphlet (with historian authored text). Based in Cambridge. Always happy to travel.
